Carnival of the Liberals #9: Ask And Ye Shall Receive

When putting out calls for submissions for this ninth edition of the Carnival of the Liberals, I requested that people try to write about religious and philosophical issues in order to help me keep this "on topic" for my site....

Whenever Christians insist that the BC/AD dating system used in the US is proof that we are a Christian nation, I ask them if their acquiescence to the terms "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday" and "Friday" is evidence that they worship the ancient Norse gods.

It's just an attempt at re-writing history, this 'resolution'. We know that the Founding Fathers didn't hold Christianity in much esteem and it would have been ridiculously easy for them to have inserted it if they wanted to.

When the religious "wrong" must insist that the reason that the Constitution etc are "Christian" just because they have "in the year of our lord" written on them, and no other better proof, shows just how willing they are to lie for their cause. It's too bad that they forget their own Bible, specifically Romans 3: 5-7. Few verses will make pseudo-Christians slither back under their rocks faster.

I personally still love the claim of Christian founders. Not that they were strictly non-christian, but almost all of them were weakly deistic, or semi-Christians. Paine hated organized religion, Jefferson had a modified bible, etc. The only I know that was devout was Patrick Henry. Anyone who studies them would know that they really had little use for God, and it's my personal view that the only reason they held ANY belief in God was because, like your other post mentioned Adam, they had no idea as to how everything started, as we did not have evolution yet. I think if we could make a "What if" machine and view the founder's thoughts after we pretend they learned of evolution, astrophysics, etc, exactly how many of them had really any religious beliefs left at all, we'd find that we were very close to being an atheist country.

Whereas, our forefathers of this great nation of the United States were white and used the principles thought of by white people as the founding principles of our nation; and

Whereas, as citizens of this great nation, we the white majority also wish to exercise our constitutional right to acknowledge our race and give thanks for the many gifts our race has provided; and

Whereas, as elected officials we should protect the majority's right to express their racist beliefs while showing respect for those of other races; and

Whereas, we wish to continue the wisdom imparted in the Constitution of the United States of America by the founding fathers; and

Whereas, we as elected officials recognize that a Master Race exists above and beyond the institutions of mankind:

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the members of the House of Representatives of the Ninety-third General Assembly, Second Regular Session, the Senate concurring therein, that we stand with the majority of our white constituents and exercise the common sense that voluntary white pride in schools and racist displays on public property are not a coalition of race and state, but rather the justified recognition of the positive role that white people have played in this great nation of ours, the United States of America.
