An Important Announcement

To all my readers,

As a rule, I don't discuss my personal life on my blog - I assume you all have more important things to do than read about what I had for breakfast this morning. However, an upcoming change in my life will be unavoidably affecting my writing, and I thought it fair to let you all know.

Specifically, I'll be starting a new full-time job this week. Although this is a very good thing for me, it will unavoidably cut significantly into my free time. Fear not, however; I have no intention whatsoever of withdrawing from the internet, and I will continue to write both for this site and for Ebon Musings. However, until I adapt to this new schedule, updates may become somewhat less frequent.

That concludes this announcement. You may now continue your regularly scheduled commenting.

Good Luck!

Best of luck Adam :D

(And.. what did you have for breakfast this morning? I'm very curious now)

I always wondered how you came up with good stuff so frequently. I just assumed you were some kind of genius. This is something of a letdown.

Seriously, though, good luck.

Congratulations on the new job and good luck.

Well, I had two and a half candy bars for breakfast, so far. I heartily unrecommend Tucson as a place to stop for two and a half days due to car trouble. I wonder what one of the TV psychics would say if I asked them to contact my electrical system... ;/

Congratulations, Adam!
If your posts are rarer now, that will just lead us to appreciate them more :)
Good luck with the new job.

Thank you, all, for your kindness and your best wishes! This is the start of a whole new chapter in my life and things are going to be very different for me from now on, but I've always believed that moving onward doesn't have to be a cause for sorrow if you can take the best parts of the past with you. I don't know at this point what to expect from the new job, but I'm eager to find out.

A plain bagel and orange juice. :)

Well, I can't deny that genius played a part in it. ;) However, the couple of months of downtime I had between finishing graduate school and finding full-time employment certainly gave me the time to be productive. I'm very happy that I was able to build up a substantial audience in that time, and I pledge to keep writing so that your future visits will be worth the while. My update schedule for July is already planned out - onward!

Congratulations on the job! Maybe the posts will be less frequent, but I'll still look forward to each one.

Best of luck Adam.

Hey, slightly off topic... to anyone else here who has stopped believing in a god after previously being religious, have you found it hard to come up with nonreligious versions of generic "good luck" comments? "God bless" and occasionally "I'll pray for you" used to cover so much; I've found it a bit tricky to come up with new sentiments that are sincere, but vague enough that you can use them even when you don't know the person very well. Writing cards has been really hard lately.

I wish you the best of luck as well, Adam. When you started this site I figured you must have come across some extra free time. I guess there won't be as much to read anymore but I trust it will all be just as good.

Shishberg: I've never been religious, but I had the same question recently. I stumbled across this site while looking for an answer. Hope it helps.

I had Ramen for breakfast. Is there a cheapest meal award? :)

Hey, congrats on the new job Adam. May the force be with you (yes, I've visited the link posted immediately above).

I'll add my congratulations too! Adam, would you satisfy my curiosity and let us know what field you're in?

Sure thing. My degree is in computer science; my new job is in the finance industry.

Congratulations. Hopefully that won't get you stranded in Tucson x.x

I bet you are going to be a quant. Congratulations on the new job and all the best.

Hmm. "Peace be with you" and "I will meditate for you"? I know the first has religous overtones, but it doesn't actually have any religious content!

A bit late here, but congrats on the new job and I hope it is everything you need and want. Best of luck to you, from someone who has been helped TREMENDOUSLY by your vision and desire to share the good news of Ebon Musings with others.

"Live long and prosper" might be appropriate, both for the rationalist overtones and the sentiment itself...

Elensialumientielvo

means "May a star shine on the hour of our meeting". Its in Quenya, the language of the Noldor (one group of Elves in Tolkein). But it does have the disadvantage of sounding complete gibberish to the person you are tallking to...

"Elensialumientielvo"

I want to hear you say that one time fast.
