Site Issues

I'm aware that commenting and permalinks were broken earlier today. I think all that should now be fixed. If you notice any further bugs or problems, please let me know.

We're back and better than ever!
...
Sorry- just wanted to say that.

We may be indeed, actually. The outage was related to my upgrading my hosting plan to cope with the steady increases in traffic I've been seeing. If you've been experiencing any slowness recently, let me know if the situation has improved.

There are still times when it seems to take forever to get onto and then move around in this site. It's getting to where I often don't bother trying. I don't notice the same thing elsewhere. Could it have something to do with your database of old posts? I imagine it's large, but it's hard to believe it's as big as many others with better performance.

It still takes me a long time to load the site, and to pull up any given article's comments -- and that's at work, with a fast Internet connection. At home, using dial-up, I don't even bother -- life's too short.

If all has gone according to plan, the upgraded hosting plan should be able to handle my traffic load more easily. David, Mike and anyone else who's been seeing slowness - give it a day or so for the DNS changes to finish propagating, and if you're still seeing these issues, please e-mail me and let me know.
