I read this poem frequently through the years when dear Mrs.Thatcher was in power and took comfort in it. Unfortunately her "sons" and heirs are still in power.

Ooh! Probably my favourite of the series. Those two lines -

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

- have been stuck in my head for quite some time now.

Great poem. Shelley doesn't even need to state his point; there is the hubristic inscription--"Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"--and immediately the abrupt observance that "Nothing beside remains," moving into the clear image of the barren sands surrounding, leaving no doubt what the poet was driving at. What a shame that Shelley did so young.
