OK, so I'm seeing that there are debunkings of other books happening in various corners of the Internet. However, I still think there might be some value in having a central repository of debunkings. Do people agree?

P.S. I just subscribed to the Reasonable Doubt podcast. I currently listen to Grothe's "Secular Nation" podcast and can recommend that.

I recently read "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist," and I thought that could use some healthy thrashing.

Deacon Duncan has been doing a very thorough review/debunk here.

Dang. That comment looked so good in the preview window. My link to the Reasonable Doubts podcast didn't come through, but here it is in all its tedious detail:

Jim,

Ebon has written a very thorough review here .

I can also recommend this Reasonable Doubts podcast, which is a conversation about the book with DJ Grothe (hitting so many of the same points as Ebon that I strongly suspect that they did most of their research by reading Ebon's review).

Has 'Mere Chrisianity' been debunked by anyone already?

When I read that many years ago I was mildly impressed by Lewis expressing certain Christian doctrines (such as the Trinity) in a fashion that seemed to get rid of the self-contradictions, but very unimpressed with his initial argument for the existence of God (needed as the source for human moral intuitions).

My missionary sister just gave us all copies of "the Shack", a story trying to reconcile god and the problem of evil.
It doesn't.

A wiki sounds like a great idea! I'm familiar with Iron Chariots, but I don't think they do any serious book-debunking.

I recently read "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist," and I thought that could use some healthy thrashing. William Lane Craig's "Reasonable Faith" and McDowell's "The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict" are both on my bookshelf waiting for me to read. I'm game for any theist reading, really.

I think I have a good enough handle of the Internet to conduct some research that could aid the project. If you would like my help, I'm all yours.

Like a wiki, you mean? That's an excellent idea, BJ. Are there other apologetics books you'd particularly like to see answered in this way?

My parents got me this book for my birthday in a gesture that said "Happy Birthday - we think you're wrong. Read this book and come back to God." Thank you very much for your work in unveiling this wealth of misinformation.

Do you envision asking your followers - or a subset - to help you debunk other books? I imagine we could all take a chapter, conduct the research to debunk it, and you could synthesize and funnel the results through this site.

This is what creationists do: They begin with the answer (gods), then search for evidence to support the answer (See! Earth is unique! We haven't been able to find other earth-like planets, despite the best efforts of science), stopping only far enough into the inquiry when they have enough information to support the answer, not caring if there is more.

That's a true example of willful ignorance.
