That's great. Too bad stuff like that washes away in the rain eventually. At least you have a longer lasting record of this one.
My family and I visited Manhattan until July 22, although we never went to Union Square. It sounds like we would have just missed this, even if we had gone by that location. If we had seen it, my wife almost certainly would have taken a picture, also.
Maybe I'm just hypersensitive, but the first thing that jumps out to me is the Star of David backdrop, even though it really isn't the major point of the work. Thank you for the picture.
Shawn: I think over-sensitive. Beautiful chalk work. I think it is reminiscent of flowers, and many interpretive flowers have odd triangular leaf outlines, and besides, a six-pointed star is fairly a standard geometric shape. I don't think "Satanists" whenever I see a five pointed star, nor "Xian" anytime I see a drawn t/grid/pointer/target/etc.
Probably wasn't intended to allude to Judaism, but even if it was, that doesn't stop it from being pretty. I like Wagner's operas as well.
