Happy New Year, everyone! How’s your 2013 so far? I think this is going to be a good year for skeptics, since it gives us a perfect opportunity to educate people about the irrationality of triskadekaphobia.
Since this is the time to take stock, I’ll report back on my resolutions from last year. First of all, I resolved that I would get my book published, and I’m happy to say I kept that one this time. My first resolution of 2013: start writing the next one! (It’s going to be a novel, as I mentioned last October.)
I resolved to go to the gym 144 times last year, and I’m proud that I kept that one as well. I want to match that this year. I didn’t reach my goals of running a 5K flat-out or boosting my bench press to 250 pounds – I seem to have hit a plateau on both exercises – but I was able to get my overhead press to 200 pounds. I’m going to renew my efforts to make those other milestones this year. I also want to read at least 24 new books. (This year it was 23.)
Now it’s your turn. If you have a goal you’re aiming for in 2013, write it down in public so you can hold yourself accountable. What do you want to do in the new year?
