This month in songs of resistance and rebellion, here’s Chvrches with one of the most pointedly political songs from their latest album. The lyrics allude to the drowning of refugees in the Mediterranean Sea and tenants who burned to death in the U.K.’s Grenfell Tower fire.

Vocalist Lauren Mayberry said about the song: “The main stimulus was seeing people with power choose to not reference things and never be held accountable…”
